Hungarian Hot Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 c. very warm water
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • flour (approximately 6 c.)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Mix warm water, yeast and sugar and let stand 15 minutes until foams.

    Add approximately 2 cups flour, egg and shortening to yeast mixture.

    Then mix in 1 cup more flour and salt.

    Add 2 to 4 cups flour to form soft dough. Coat dough with oil and let rise 3 to 4 hours.

    Turn onto floured surface and knead gently.

    Pinch off dough and roll into balls.

    Put rolls in greased (oil) pan. Coat rolls with oil.

    Let rise 1 hour.

    Bake in unpreheated oven for 20 minutes at 350°.
