Hungarian Kiffles

Directions

   In a large bowl mix the flour, sugar and salt

   In a stand mixer or by hand cream together the cream cheese and butter

   Add the egg yolks to the cream cheese mixture

   Slowly add the flour mixture to the cream cheese mixture

   Combine until the dough is formed

   Divide into 5 balls and refrigerate overnight

   When ready to roll let the dough come to almost room temperature

   Using a rolling pin roll the dough ball into a circle

   Using a round cookie cutter cut out circles

    Take the circle and very gently roll into an oval shape. Do this only once or twice to each circle

    Fill the oval shape with 1/2 teaspoon of filling

    Roll lengthwise while gently pulling on the sides to stretch slightly

    Lay the kiffles seam side down on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet

    Bake at 375 degrees for 10-13 minutes until lightly browned

    Cool on cooling rack

    Sprinkle with Confectioners Sugar
