- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. cornmeal
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. cream-style corn
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

Directions

1Combine first 4 ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add corn, onion, egg and 2 tablespoons oil; stir well. Drop batter by level tablespoonful into deep, hot oil (370°). Cook a few at a time, turning once. Fry 3 to 5 minutes until hush puppies are golden brown. Drain well on paper towels. Yield: about 2 1/2 dozen.
