  • 1 cube butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. ice water

    Cream well butter and sugar.

    Add flour, salt and ice water. Beat 4 egg whites stiff.

    Add 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder.

    Fold into other mixture.

    Bake in two round 9-inch pans and bake 25 to 30 minutes at 375°.
