- 2 c. buttermilk, scalded
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 heaping tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 c. shortening
Directions

1Scald buttermilk, cool and add yeast.

2Sift together the dry ingredients.

3Work 1 cup shortening into dry sifted ingredients. Add buttermilk/yeast and mix thoroughly.

4This dough will be soft. Cover dough and put in refrigerator.

5Pinch off amount of dough you need.

6When ready to use, roll on floured board and make into biscuits.

7Bake in a 425° oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

8It isn't necessary to let rise after you make into biscuits, but makes lighter biscuit.
