Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry active yeast
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 lb. butter or margarine, cut in chunks
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 5 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 stick butter or 5 Tbsp.

Directions

    Dissolve yeast with 1/2 teaspoon sugar in the lukewarm water. Set aside while beating eggs lightly.

    Add 3/4 cup sugar, the chunks of butter and salt to eggs.

    Stir in boiling water.

    Cool to lukewarm.

    Add yeast and flour.

    Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes, then cover and refrigerate several hours at least or overnight.
