  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup milk, scalded
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lard, melted
  • Butter or margarine

Directions

    Combine cornmeal and milk; mix well. Add salt and lard, and stir well.

    Drop batter by 2 tablespoonfuls onto a hot, lightly greased griddle. Turn cakes when tops are bubbly and edges are browned. Serve hot with butter.
