- 5 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. maple syrup
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2/3 c. cornmeal
- 1/3 c. molasses
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 c. raisins (optional)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 300°.

2Butter a shallow 9 x 13-inch baking dish or large casserole.

3In heavy saucepan, heat milk over medium heat.

4Slowly sprinkle in the cornmeal, whisking as you do so. Continue to stir with a wooden spoon for 10 minutes, until thickened.

5Lower heat.

6Add remaining ingredients; stir.

7Pour carefully into baking dish.

8Bake for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Serve warm.

9Top with vanilla ice cream.
