Infallible Nut Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. sweet milk
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. nut meats (hickory nuts, almonds or English walnuts)
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 1/2 c. butter
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Rub sugar and butter to a cream.

    Sift flour and baking powder together.
  3. 3
    Add milk and dry ingredients to sugar mixture.
  4. 4
    Stir in vanilla and nut meats.
  5. 5
    Beat egg whites until stiff froth, then fold into rest of ingredients.

    Bake in a medium oven.

    It will require about an hour to bake and should rise to full height before browning.

    I use oleo and pecans.
