- 3 1/4 oz. pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. vegetable shortening
- 2 c. lukewarm buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar and baking soda.

2Cut in shortening.

3Add buttermilk and yeast, mixing well.

4Cover dough and chill 2 hours. Place dough on a floured cloth.

5Roll out and cut with a biscuit cutter.

6Place in pan and set aside until dough reaches room temperature. Brush with melted butter and bake at 325° for 10 to 15 minutes. Makes 36 rolls.
