Ingredients

  • 2 blocks Firm tofu (1 block = 400 g)
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 Egg
  • 400 ml Dried panko
  • 2 tbsp Katakuriko
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Soup stock granules
  • 1 Salt
  • 1 White or black pepper
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 Ketchup
  • 1 Mustard

    Drain the tofu very well.

    One 400 g block will become about 250 g to 300 g.

    Put the onion in the bowl of a food processor and switch on!

    When it's chopped up add all the other ingredients and turn on the switch!

    Taste and adjust the seasoning.

    When the mixture turns into a paste, adjust the texture.

    Add panko if it's too soft, and add a bit of water if it's too stiff.

    It should be about the consistency of uncooked hamburger.

    Divide into bite-sized portions.

    Form the portioned paste into oval shaped patties, deep fry in oil and they are done.

    If you press the back of a fork into them before frying they'll look like chicken nuggets.

    This is after I've portioned the paste from Step 3 with a small ice cream scooper into bite-sized pieces.

    I deep fried them at 180C.
