Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. sugar (increase to 1 c. if desired)
  • 2 c. raisins
  • 1/4 c. margarine, melted
  • 2 Tbsp. caraway seed
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs

Directions

    Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.

    Add sugar, raisins, caraway seed and margarine.

    Blend well and then add buttermilk and eggs.

    Stir and bake at 350° for 55 to 60 minutes.

    I use a black-iron frying pan; any heavy, round pan will do.

    Cool and wrap to keep.
