- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
Directions

1Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt and set aside.

2Cream butter and sugar.

3Add beaten egg and buttermilk and blend well.

4Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients.

5Mix the rest by hand only until ingredients are moistened.

6Fold in raisins.

7Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart glass casserole.

8Brush top with melted butter and sprinkle with a little sugar.

9Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.

10Reduce to 325° and bake about 30 minutes longer. Test middle of loaf before removing from oven.

11Cool completely.
