Ingredients
- 1/4 c. margarine
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. white pepper
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 c. salad oil
- 1/2 c. cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Directions

1In medium saucepan, slowly heat margarine until melted; remove from heat.

2Add flour, salt, pepper and Worcestershire.

3Stir until smooth.

4Add milk, small portion at a time.

5Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring continually.

6Reduce heat and simmer.

7Add 1/2 pound Cheddar cheese.

8Continue to stir and simmer until cheese is completely melted.

9Remove and cool.

10When cheese sauce has cooled, add alternately portions of oil and vinegar while stirring. To add zest, add garlic clove or 1 tablespoon horseradish.

11Chill. Shake before using.

12Makes 1 quart.

13Also use on open-faced sandwiches or baked potato as topping.
