- 6 eggs
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. anise extract or oil
- 3 Tbsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 6 c. flour
- 1/2 lb. toasted almonds
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating mixture until light and fluffy.

3Add vanilla, anise and nuts.

4Add flour sifted with baking powder and salt.

5Mix well. Knead like bread.

6Shape into 6 to 7 loaves.

7Brush top of loaves with 1 beaten egg.

8Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350°.

9Remove from oven; cut diagonally into small pieces.

10Return to oven.

11Toast until light brown.
