- 1/2 c. chopped onions
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 12 oz. tomato paste
- 16 oz. tomato sauce
- 1/4 c. chopped parsley
- 4 c. tomato juice
- 1 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. sage
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 c. water
- sliced mushrooms (if desired)
Directions

1In a large skillet, cook onions until almost tender. Add the ground beef and garlic and brown lightly. Add sliced mushrooms. Stir in remaining ingredients.

2Simmer, uncovered, for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until thick.

3Remove bay leaves.

4Serve over spaghetti.
