Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 3 eggs
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 3 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. anise or almond extract
- 1 Tbsp. anise seed
- 1 c. sliced almonds
Directions

1In mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy.

2Add 2 eggs and flavoring.

3Stir in flour mixture and mix well.

4Add nuts to batter.

5Chill well (about 2 hours).

6Shape into 3 loaves.

7Brush top with egg white from third egg.

8Bake on slightly greased cookie sheet at 300° for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

9Slice into 1/2-inch diagonal slices.

10Return to oven and brown 30 minutes or until dry.
