  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. each: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. jam (any flavor) *
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 3 c. flour

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Beat egg yolks until thick; add soda, both sugars and butter.

    Beat until creamy; add spices and vanilla.

    Add jam, nuts and beaten egg whites.

    Fold in flour and milk.

    Pour into tube or loaf pan.

    Bake.
