- 1 c. buttermilk
- 4 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 2 c. jam or preserves
- 6 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar lightly, then add eggs and beat all together.

2Combine buttermilk and soda and add alternately with flour and spices.

3Add preserves last.

4This makes a large cake. Two-thirds of the recipe makes two 8-inch layers.
