  • 2 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 tsp. soda (in milk)
  • 2 c. blackberry jam
  • 1 pt. pear preserves
  • 1 c. peach preserves
  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 3 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon, allspice and vanilla
  • 2 tsp. cloves and cocoa
  • 1 1/2 c. nuts (half pecans and half black walnuts)

    Cream sugar and butter together until creamy.

    Add eggs; add flour alternately with milk and soda.

    Add preserves and spices. Add raisins and nuts last that have been flavored.

    Bake in four 8-inch layer pans in a 350° oven for 45 minutes.
