- 2 sticks butter
- 1 c. nuts (black walnuts are best)
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. jam
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 4 eggs, separated
Directions

1Cream butter, sugar and egg yolks.

2Then add jam.

3Take 1 cup flour and coat nuts and raisins.

4Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Sift all other dry ingredients together.

5Add to first mixture with flour and buttermilk.

6Beat egg whites stiff.

7Fold into mixture.

8Bake in 3 (9 or 10-inch) pans.

9Use your favorite icing.
