  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 c. nut meats (optional)

    Sift flour and sugar.

    Add Crisco, milk and vanilla.

    Beat 2 minutes, then add eggs.

    Beat well.

    Pour 1/3 of batter into layer pan.

    Then, stir in nut meats and spices into rest of batter.

    Make 2 layers out of this batter.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. When layers are cool, spread filling between layers.
