- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. chopped raisins
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 3 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. soda
Directions

1Cream the butter and sugar together.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Sift dry ingredients together and combine the two mixtures.

4Fold raisins and nuts into mixture. Pour into layer pans and bake in slow oven (300°) for 1 hour or until cake leaves sides of pan.
