  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. chopped raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. soda

    Cream the butter and sugar together.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Sift dry ingredients together and combine the two mixtures.

    Fold raisins and nuts into mixture. Pour into layer pans and bake in slow oven (300°) for 1 hour or until cake leaves sides of pan.
