- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup jasmine rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- Kosher salt
Directions

1Melt the butter in a medium saucepan.

2Add the onion and cook over moderately high heat until softened, about 5 minutes.

3Stir in the rice.

4Add the water and a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.

5Cover and cook over low heat for 18 minutes, until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

6Fluff the rice with a fork, cover and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
