Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (divided in half)
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon baking soda
  • 14 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 18 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (I use canned)
  • 12 cup whole milk
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 13 cup shortening
  • 12 walnuts, chopped (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350F.

    In a large mixing bowl combine 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, nutmeg and ginger.

    in the same bowl add pumpkin, milk, eggs and shortening.

    Mix until blended add the other cup of flour and mix until blended.

    If you are using walnuts fold them in now.

    Put the bread mis in a 9-inch loaf pan.

    Bake at 350F degrees for an hour or until a fork inserted into the middle comes out clean.
