- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.

2Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

3Cream the shortening.

4Add sugar gradually. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine milk and vanilla. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture, then half of the milk.

5Repeat until all ingredients are added.

6Pour into prepared pans and bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes. Spread layers with favorite jam or jelly.
