- Butter for greasing pan
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 8-inch square baking pan
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 425 F.

3Sift together the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

4Add the buttermilk, beaten egg, molasses, and melted butter and mix until smooth.
