  • 6 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. butter/margarine
  • 2 (3 oz.) cans mushrooms, drained
  • 8 c. shell macaroni (1 lb.)
  • 1/4 c. butter (put in with macaroni)
  • 4 c. sharp grated cheese
  • 16 oz. can tomato sauce

    Saut first 6 ingredients for 15 minutes. Add 2/3 of cheese to meat mixture; stir until cheese melts. Add 8 ounces tomato sauce and mushrooms; mix well. Stir in macaroni and mix again. Top with 8 ounces tomato sauce and sprinkle with rest of cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 40 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
