Ingredients
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. oats (quick or old-fashioned), uncooked
- 2/3 c. canned sauerkraut, drained and chopped
Directions

1Beat butter until creamy.

2Gradually add sugar, beating well after each addition.

3Blend in eggs and vanilla.

4Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.

5Alternately add flour mixture with oats and water to butter mixture.

6Mix well.

7Fold in sauerkraut.

8Grease bottoms of two 8-inch round baking pans lined with waxed paper.

9Grease again and flour.
-
10Pour batter into prepared pans.

11Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

12Remove from pans.

13Cool on racks.
