- 4 teaspoons yeast
- 1 cup water, lukewarm
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 6 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 7 cups flour, divided
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, beaten
Directions

1Proof yeast in lukewarm water and 1 Tablespoon sugar.

2Scald milk and shortening; add sugar.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Add 2 cups flour to make a batter.

5Add yeast to mixture.

6Add eggs; mix.

7Add remaining flour to make a soft dough, a little at a time; amount of flour will vary some from the 7 cups.

8Knead lightly.

9Place in a greased bowl; cover; set in place to rise until double, about 2 hours.

10Punch down; let rise until double.

11Form into balls; for kolaches make a dent in center and fill; let rise.

12Bake in 400 degree Fahrenheit oven until nicely browned, about 15 minutes; no time given, guessing here.
