Ingredients

  • 4 lamb shanks
  • 2 tablespoons fat
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 small onions or 4 small onions, sliced in rings
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 8 prunes

Directions

    Trim all fat from shanks.

    Dredge in flour with salt and pepper.

    Brown in fat in deep frying pan or dutch oven.

    Combine remaining ingredients and pour over meat.

    place onions and prunes on top.

    Cover and bake in a moderate oven (350) for 2 hours or until meat is tender.

    Serve sauce over shanks.
