Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pkg. lasagna noodles
  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb. Mozzarella cheese (whole)
  • 1 large can tomato puree (1 lb. 15 oz.)
  • 3 (6 oz.) cans Hunt's tomato paste
  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 1 bag frozen, chopped onions (12 to 16 oz.)
  • 1 lb. fresh Ricotta cheese
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Neufchatel or cream cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 small can Parmesan cheese
  • spices: plenty of garlic powder, parsley, oregano, basil, etc.

    Two days before using, make sauce:

    Brown onions in bottom of a large Dutch oven.

    Add meat and brown.

    Stir occasionally to break it up well.

    Add salt, pepper, lots of oregano, garlic powder, 3 cans of tomato paste and can of puree.

    Add 1 teaspoon of sugar.

    Cover.

    Simmer 2 to 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes or so and taste to season.

    When done, put in a large airtight container.

    Store in refrigerator at least 24 hours before using.
