Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 small onion
  • 28 oz. can tomatoes
  • 12 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2/3 pkg. lasagna noodles (about 14)
  • 2 eggs
  • 15 oz. Ricotta cheese
  • 16 oz. Mozzarella cheese, grated

Directions

    Cook ground beef and onion until brown.

    Drain excess grease. Add tomatoes with liquid, tomato paste, sugar, salt, oregano, thyme, pepper, garlic salt and bay leaf.

    Heat to boiling, stirring to break up tomatoes.

    Reduce heat to low.

    Cover and simmer 30 minutes or longer, stirring occasionally.

    Discard bay leaf. Prepare lasagna noodles as package directs.

    Drain.

    In a 13 x 9-inch baking dish, arrange half of noodles.

    Combine eggs and Ricotta cheese.

    Spoon 1/2 of mixture over noodles.

    Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese.

    Top with sauce.
