  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic, minced to taste
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste (Italian style)
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. lasagna noodles
  • 1 (12 oz.) carton cottage cheese
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. sliced Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese (3 oz. pack)

    Brown meat and onion; drain and then add garlic, tomato paste, tomato sauce, salt and pepper. Simmer for a few minutes. Cook the noodles in boiling saltwater until tender and drain. Combine the egg, cottage cheese and 1 teaspoon salt; mix well. Layer in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan 1/2 of the noodles, 1/2 of the meat sauce, 1/2 of the cottage cheese, 1/2 of the Mozzarella cheese and 1/2 of the Parmesan. Repeat the layers. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. Cover tightly with foil before baking; this prevents drying out.
