Ingredients

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh Italian parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 pound ground beef, pork and veal mixture*
  • 2 teaspoons crushed fennel seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara pasta sauce
  • 1 (12-inch) loaf ciabatta bread, cut in half lengthwise
  • 12 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes Deli 4 Cheese Italian Blend

    Heat oven to 400F.

    Combine all ricotta mixture ingredients in bowl.

    Set aside.

    Place all meat sauce ingredients except pasta sauce in 12-inch skillet.

    Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 8-10 minutes or until meat is browned.

    Drain.

    Add pasta sauce; cook over low heat 15 minutes.

    Place bread halves, cut-side up, onto large ungreased baking pan.

    Spread meat sauce evenly over bread halves.

    Top each with 4 slices cheese and dollops of ricotta mixture.

    Cut remaining 4 slices cheese in half diagonally; lay over edges of bread.
