- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels (50)
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk or whole milk, divided
- 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. chocolate chips
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan. Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.

3Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until melted.

4Combine remaining ingredients except chocolate chips in a large bowl.

5Mix by hand until dough holds together.

6Press 1/2 of the dough into pan, reserving the rest for topping.

7Bake dough 6 minutes.

8Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust.

9Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Sprinkle remaining dough on top.

10Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
