Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 c. margarine or butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. shredded lemon peel
  • 6 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • powdered sugar

Directions

    Sift flour and powdered sugar.

    Cut in margarine (or butter) until mixture clings together.

    Pat into greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.

    Beat eggs, granulated sugar, lemon peel and juice.

    Beat about 5 minutes.

    Add 4 tablespoons flour and baking powder to egg mixture.

    Blend just until moistened.

    Pour over baked layer.

    Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Sift powdered sugar over top.

    Cool, cut into bars.
