- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. lemon extract
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Cream together the shortening and sugar until fluffy.

2Add 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup buttermilk, salt and flavoring.

3Beat 2 minutes.

4Add eggs, one at a time, beating 2 minutes after each egg.

5Add 1 1/2 cups of flour to batter.

6Mix 1/2 teaspoon of soda in remaining buttermilk and add it to flour mix.

7Beat 2 minutes. Pour into tube pan that has been greased with vegetable oil.

8Bake at 325° for 1 hour.
