- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 4 Tbsp. cold water
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 egg, well beaten
- dash of salt
- juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
Directions

1Combine sugar and cornstarch; add cold water.

2Pour boiling water over mixture.

3Add butter; cook over very low heat or in top of double boil until thick, about 15 minutes.

4Pour slowly over beaten egg, whisking all the while.

5Lastly, add lemon juice and rind.

6Serve hot over gingerbread.
