Ingredients

  • 8 oz. spaghetti, broken into 2 inch pieces or other pasta
  • 2 Tbsp. soft butter
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 lb. Ricotta cheese
  • 12 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese

Directions

    Cook pasta according to package directions and drain.

    In a large bowl mix butter, Parmesan, salt, pepper and egg.

    Add spaghetti and toss to coat well.

    Spread evenly in 13 x 9-inch pan. Brown ground chuck in large saucepan.

    Add onion, pepper and garlic just as meat starts to cook.

    Drain off fat when meat is browned. Stir in spaghetti sauce, sugar and oregano.

    Spread Ricotta over spaghetti layer; top with meat mixture.

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.

    Sprinkle with Mozzarella; bake another 10 minutes.

    Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
