- 7 lb. cucumbers
- 2 lb. sugar
- lime (builders)
- 3 pt. vinegar
- 1 tsp. each: cloves, ginger, allspice, celery seed, mace and cinnamon
Directions

1Soak the cucumbers after slicing in thin slices in a mixture of 1 1/2 cups lime to 1 gallon water, making enough to cover the cucumbers.

2Let them soak on lime mixture overnight.

3Drain and soak for 5 hours in fresh water, changing hourly.

4Make a syrup of the sugar, vinegar and spices and bring to a boil.

5After changing the water for the last time, pour the syrup over the cucumbers and let stand overnight, then boil for 1 hour and seal in jars.
