Ingredients
- 7 lb. cucumbers, sliced
- 2 c. pickling lime
- 2 gal. water
- 8 c. distilled white vinegar (4 to 6% acidity)
- 8 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 tsp. pickling spice
Directions

1Soak clean cucumbers in lime mixture in crockery or enamel ware for 12 hours or overnight.

2Do not use aluminum.

3Wash and drain 3 times in clear water.

4Soak in fresh ice water for 3 hours.

5Combine remaining ingredients.

6Bring to a low boil; stir until sugar is dissolved.

7Add cucumbers and soak 5 or 6 hours or overnight.

8Boil cucumbers in soaking solution for 35 minutes. Fill sterilized quart jars with cucumber slices and fill with liquid to 1/2-inch of jar top.

9Put lids on tight and put in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes, full boil.
