- 2 Tbsp. shortening or oil
- 1 1/2 envelopes onion soup mix
- 1 1/2 lb. boneless chuck or round steak
- 2 medium green peppers, cut in thin strips
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 c. water
Directions

1Cut meat into thin strips, 2 inches long.

2In large skillet, brown meat in oil; turn frequently.

3Stir in soup mix and 2 cups water.

4Cover and simmer 30 minutes.

5Stir in peppers.

6Cover and simmer 10 minutes, or until tender.

7Blend cornstarch with 1/2 cup water and stir into skillet.

8Cook while stirring until thickened. Add a bit of soy sauce when browning meat.

9Serves 4 to 6.
