- 1 lb. chip steaks
- 2 thinly sliced carrots
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- bay leaves
- 1 onion, sliced very thin
- flour, salt and pepper for dusting
Directions

1Place thin slice of onion and 2 to 3 slices of carrots on each slice of meat.

2Dust with salt, pepper and flour mixture.

3Roll and fasten with toothpicks or thread.

4Brown on all sides in melted butter.

5When all pieces are brown, cover with water.

6Add a few bay leaves and 1/4 teaspoon allspice.

7Simmer 15 minutes. Make a paste of flour and water; pour over meat and simmer about 45 minutes more for flavorful gravy.

8Watch carefully after 30 minutes to be sure gravy doesn't cook away.
