- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/3 c. soft shortening
- 4 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Scald milk; add sugar, salt and shortening to the milk and let cool.

2Add yeast to the water (the water must be boiled first or the yeast won't react).

3Proceed as with bread, adding 2 eggs and nutmeg; mix in a ball and let it rise until double in bulk.

4Knead down and roll to 1/3-inch thickness.

5Cut and let rise for 30 to 40 minutes.

6Deep fry at 375°.

7Frost with favorite frosting.
