- 1 cup (225 ml) brown flour
- 1 cup (225 ml) white flour
- 2 cups (475 ml) yogurt
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) yeast
- 1 small mashed boiled potato
- oil for frying
- 6 cups (1425 ml) sugar
- 3 cups (700 ml) water
- 1/2 tbsp (7 ml) lemon juice

Directions

1Combine all dry ingredients add yogurt and knead until smooth batter.

2Cover and stand in warm place until it doubles in size.

3Add mashed potato to the batter, mix well.

4Heat deep oil, reduce the heat.

5Scoop out balls from batter by using tsp and drop into oil, turning to ensure even browning, drain.

6Dip into sugar syrup and serve.

7Combine all ingredients and cook over low heat for 1 hour, until slightly thick.
