- 1 c. flour
- 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. corn meal
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 c. milk
- 1/4 c. shortening, melted
Directions

1Sift flour; measure.

2Add baking powder, salt and sugar.

3Sift again and add corn meal.

4Mix thoroughly.

5Combine egg, milk and melted shortening; pour into flour mixture and stir just enough to moisten the dry ingredients.

6Do not beat.

7Turn into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch square pan and bake at 425° for 30 to 35 minutes. Cut into squares and serve hot.
