- 2 c. self-rising corn meal mix
- 1/4 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- enough buttermilk (must be buttermilk or the bread just won't be the same) to make batter the consistency of cake batter
Directions

1Mix all ingredients.

2Grease an iron skillet with cold Crisco (this makes the bread not stick to the pan); pour the batter into the skillet.

3Bake slowly at about 325° to 350° until bread is very brown and crispy.

4If you prefer it softer, don't brown quite as much.
