  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. oleo
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • dash of salt
  • 1 lb. bag plain M&M's candy

    Mix

    dates and 1 teaspoon soda with boiling water, then cool. Cream

    oleo, 1 cup sugar, eggs, 1 teaspoon soda, vanilla, walnuts, flour and salt.

    Mix in above mixture.

    Pour into greased and floured

    9 x 13-inch pan.

    Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar and M&M's on top.

    Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.
