  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttered bread crumbs

Directions

    Boil macaroni in salted water, following package directions.

    Drain under fold water.

    Cover bottom of a 2 qt baking dish with a layer of macaroni, a layer of cheese, bits of butter, salt&pepper.

    Continue layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a cheese layer.

    Whisk milk & egg together, pour over the top, cover with buttered bread crumbs and bake in a 350F oven for 25-35 min, until browned and cooked through.
